3-Thiophenemalonic Acid (CAS: 21080-92-2) (Ticarcillin EP Impurity C) is an intermediate used to synthesize Ticarcillin (CAS: 34787-01-4) and Temocillin (CAS: 66148-78-5). It is also used to prepare malonate-based inhibitors of mammalian serine racemase. Ticarcillin is a carboxypenicillin belonging to the beta-lactam class of antibiotics. Ticarcillin is an injectable antibiotic used in the treatment of infections caused by gram-negative bacteria, particularly Pseudomonas aeruginosa.
